5 Language focus We use intensifiers to give a stronger meaning to adjectives and verbs. We can use really, very, or so to strengthen an adjective: I was really / very good at hiding! Some skipping games are so difficult. We can also use really to strengthen a verb: I really liked playing hopscotch. We can use at all to strengthen negative sentences: He didn't like skipping at all!
