The goal of an MIS is to change raw data (facts and figures) into information that can be used by managers. Service industries that make extensive use of computers and technology include public service organizations, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and financial service organizations. 9.2 E-Business E-business is the organized effort of individuals to produce and sell, for a profit, the goods and services that satisfy society's needs through the facilities available on the Internet. Engaging in e-business can help companies to increase revenues and reduce expenses. A range of e-business models can be adopted as a result of new technologies. These are B2B (business-to-business), B2C (business-to-consumer), C2B (consumer-to-business), and C2C (consumer-to-consumer). Saudi Arabia is playing an active role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, a term used to describe the rapid development of new technologies in the 21st century. E-commerce involves the conducting of business transactions over the Internet or through other electronic technology. 9.3 Social Media in Business • Social media has completely changed the business environment. Using social media, companies can share information about their products and services, and improve customer service. Now many companies, large and small, are using social media to learn about customers' likes and dislikes, seek public input about products and marketing, and promote particular products. Social media is here to stay.
