Many of the skills can be used in the personal life of the health care provider. Proper use of the telephone, composing professional business letters, and completing insurance forms, are essential skills for those who work in medical or dental offices, private health care facilities, or business offices of major health care providers. • Proper filing techniques and proper scheduling of appointments can help a health care facility function efficiently. • Maintaining patient records, such as patient information forms and medical histories, is an important aspect of patient care. Accuracy is essential because medical records are considered legal documents. • Bookkeeping systems are used to maintain financial records for health care facilities, including records of services rendered, payments made, and balances due on accounts.
