Before you start

A student asked six friends and relatives for their definitions success. They each wrote their answers as notes on pieces of paper. Read the definitions and answer the questions.

Match the people with the things they see as signs of success.

Work in small groups. Share your definition of success with the group.

Think about how similar or different you and others' definitions of success are and think of possible reasons for this. Make some notes.

Work together with a new group. Use your notes from Exercise 4 to tell each other about you and your first partner's definitions of success and compare the two definitioas.
